What is “Healing Tea”?

Teas and especially herbal teas go back to ancient Egypt and China thousands of years ago where they were used for health benefits, beauty and for overall wellness. The natural, caffeine free and infused with fresh herbs healing teas are known for their great taste and health properties.

These days there are a lot of brands available in supermarkets which have array of these type of teas made of spices and dried herbs. And I do love to use them, some of my favourite brands are Pukka Teas from England, Ronnefeldt and Dallmayr Teas from Germany. I absolutely love their teas specially Peppermint , Cleanse, Detox and Alpine Herbs!

Even though I love all these store bought teas I do like to brew my own fresh herb teas. I like to use all those fresh herbs from my garden and some spices from the kitchen pantry.

A few days ago I was feeling a bit peaky and I wanted something soothing rather comforting to beat those allergies. Quite often I suffer from allergies, sneezing and breathing problems and in times like that I like to enjoy a cup of hot soothing healing tea!

In this tea, I added fresh Lemon Balm, Thai Purple Basil, Fresh Spearmint, Carom Seeds and Fennel Seeds.

Why did I chose all these herbs and spices? What are the benefits of all these herbs and spices?

Lemon Balm is used for nausea, cold sores, menstrual cramps and insomnia.

Thai Purple Basil, I call this a wonder herb! It’s know for it’s healing and antioxidants properties. It’s got that sort of spicy taste which worked really well in this tea.

Spearmint, known for its soothing properties. It is widely used for indigestion, sore throat, cramps, headache and many other health problems.

Carom Seeds are used in Indian cooking and famously known for its use in curing indigestion. But apart from that it is also used for curing common cold, sore throat, arthritis pain and instant relief of acidity.

Fennel Seeds are used to cure bloating, indigestion, to reduce water retention and cures asthma symptoms.

So for this “Healing Tea” all I did was I added a few sprigs of lemon balm, spearmint and purple basil with carom and fennel seeds. I pour 500ml hot water and brewed it for 5-7 minutes. You can add some honey to sweeten it but I didn’t because I am off sugar.

Do give this flavourful tea a try and stay healthy people!
