Tomato, Onion Spicy Chutney

Chutneys play a big role in Indian Cuisine and specially in my every day meal. As I have mentioned before, my mum used to make so many different types of chutneys and I like to do the same.

The Recipe I am posting today is a very simple Tomato, Onion Spicy Chutney which goes incredibly well with Idli, Paniyaram, Roti and even rice. This recipe was given to me by a girl who works for me.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tomatoes medium chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves smashed
  • 1 onion medium diced
  • 5 or to taste fresh red chillies or green chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • A few curry leaves

Directions:

Heat oil, add everything and sauté for 5 minutes. When it cools down a bit, make a coarse paste in processor.

In a pan make a tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves, add this chutney and fry over a medium heat for about 5 minutes.

Serve warm or cold.
